Cosenza is one of the main cities in Calabria, located at the confluence of the Busento and Crathis rivers, also was once known as the Athens of Calabria.
The Cosentian Academy, for example, was one of the very first academies to be founded in Italy (1511). To this day, the city remains an important cultural centre with museums, theatres, libraries, and the University of Calabria.
