A charming Tuscan hill town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, set in the heart of the Tuscan Chianti region.
A lively town with a very distinctive medieval centre, with many stunning attractions including the 12th Century Romansque styled Duomo, shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, the town square, which houses the Palazzo Pubblico and the Torre del Mangia, and where the famous Palio takes place.
The Palio is a very dangerous street race round the Piazza del Campo that takes place on the 2nd July and 16th August, every year, and rider fatalities are not uncommon.
